This remake fixes that and throws almost every Kunio character from bit parts to characters that shouldn't even be fighting!
I spent hours combing through the Japanese fan mod files to pick and choose the upgraded graphics files that keep true to the spirit of the game while upgrading it with things like hair color The original nes games had only black hair for everyone and better font, I even took the sprites from a female conversion mod and made some of the female Nekketsu characters that take part in the fighting!
After that I went about getting the menus translated. After getting a screen shot translation guide made up I found out something, the cutscenes are simple. What you see here is the work I have so far and sadly for now is all I will have for a while because my translators got scared off by the about lines of text left to do. With this project I need help in two ways One is a translator for the cutscene dialog, there is very little dialog compared to a commercial release but its still a good amount, good way to get your feet wet.
I can localize and rewrite it so I really only need a literal translation. Second I need a sprite artist to convert a 16 bit kunio sprite into a chibi 8 bit one.
I could do this myself but I am damn burnt out and still have 8 more hair sets to make the "Been hit" sprites for and I really don't feel like making another from scratch.
And this isn't too important but I could use someone to figure out how the scripting engine works so I can change the delay between each line of dialog.

Usually I had an idea of what was going on, but many times "I" could be "we" or things like that. Also, the line starting with "81" and with "" are mysterious to me. Lastly, I think after the newline character, there is a random amount of spaces to compensate for the speaker's name being on the first line. These cutscenes are also event sensitive, one cutscene will have the dialog for 3 different cutscenes depending on how well you do in the game, what character you are playing as and which ending you and going for. There is a guide for moves online. Every character has 1 to 3 moves and you can open up the txt file to find out which they have. Its fairly challenging but not too much so. I also will be putting an updated guide into the release once I finish as well as a menu translation, speaking of which if anyone wishes to take a crack at hacking the menus there is an older release that no longer works on windows 7 and is mostly just a fan rewrite that has translated menus, I was thinking you could check out how they did it and apply it to this new release.
Update: Note I have a case of chronic sinusitis so my eyes aren't functioning quite right due to pressure so this is on hold for about a month. I've been working on this far longer on and off so really there's no worry of this project dying. I will pass the translations to my old translator who will give me a second opinion Tho these are looking quite good and then get a guy I know to do sprite work to finish this up and all that's left is a rewrite session and then putting it in Tedious because you have to copy it one word at a time with the type of font required.

Well it runs at 60fps with no flicker, has over triple the moves, all the characters from the nekketsu series, allows you to add any character you want and any stage you want. Everything is changeable except you can't make your own moves and the menus need to be hacked to have different text. Also it allows 8 character battles rather than just 4 and it has 3 different endings with 3 different bosses.
